The Society began publishing its annual journal in 1851 under the joint editorship of David Laing and Daniel Wilson. A complete archive of back volumes is available through our journal platform.
Today, PSAS is a peer-reviewed journal dealing with Scotland’s past in its wider context. Each volume presents research results, interpretations and discoveries that further the understanding of Scotland’s heritage.
Papers published in PSAS may be on any subject relating to Scotland’s heritage, including history, archaeology, culture, and society. If you are interested in submitting a paper to the journal then please read the submission guidelines.
Information on the peer review process, open access, copyright permissions, book reviews and digital archiving can be found on the journal policies page.
